Where to stay in Santorini: Astra Suites for the win!
I am a sucker for a luxury resort. I stay at a lot of them, but I pick my absolute favorites to feature. If you’re looking for where to stay in Santorini, look no further than Astra Suites in Imerovigli. Here are my top 5 reasons why this resort captured my heart.
Astra Suites is situated perfectly in front of Skaros Rock with the gorgeous view of the Aegean Sea behind it. You look to the left and you see Thira. You look to the right and you see Oia. You can sit on the decks or in the pool and stare forever into the beautiful horizon. And the sunsets are truly breathtaking. Even the bartenders who see it every day will stop to watch at the last moment the sun sinks into the horizon. As one of my bartenders said, it is truly majestic.
Astra Suites is situated perfectly in the middle of the island in Imerovigli so you can easily get to either Thira or Oia for sightseeing. Imerovigli is great because it isn’t a spot where a bunch of cruise ships let out, so it stays serene and luxurious while the other sides of the island can get congested during the day. There are also plenty of restaurants in walking distance which is convenient.
Each morning you will start with a luxurious breakfast served on your terrace with the most delicious greek yogurt, pastries, eggs, coffee and juices. Waking up to this breakfast makes the jet lag easy to get over. If you want to dine privately for dinner, they’ll even create a romantic, candlelight gourmet dinner for you on your terrace.
The pool area is great with a gorgeous view and relaxing, chill music. There is also a bar and the bartenders serve up really amazing lychee martinis which I highly recommend! Beyond this, the design of the furniture, umbrellas and accessories are on point and Santorini-chic.
I can’t say enough good things about the service at Astra. The owner greeted us warmly and helped us with advice and booking excursions. They also arranged us smooth transportation from the airport and ferry port. Santorini has a ton of steps as it’s built up a cliff yet this was no problem for the young guys that lifted our suitcases above their heads to our rooms. From the moment we arrived they attended to our every need. First class service all the way.
Pro Tip: I stayed in the Honeymoon Jacuzzi Suite and all I can say is WOW. It has it’s own enormous terrace with the best views and the suite itself is stunning. No room is bad here, but I highly recommend the honeymoon suite! P.S. It doesn’t have to be your honeymoon 🙂 It wasn’t for me!
